Well, a very busy day for me. First off, however, I have to mention the Hotel Arosa breakfast. Eggs, bacon, sausage, all sorts of bread, meats, cereals, youghurts, everything. Certainly the sort of breakfast that deserves at least a couple of hours over...

Unfortunately, we didn't have that sort of luxury available to us, and by 0830 we were on the floor getting the booth ready. Except that the furniture hadn't arrived, so we mooched around for a while. Most of the booths weren't even close to ready, as you can see from the pics below. Lots of cools walls pictures, however, and it was an interesting walk through.

Eventually the furniture arrived and we set everything up. Jacob and I folded all the rules for the John of Gaunt expansion (about 300 copies) (yes, Julie, I know, nothing compared to your box foding marathon, but, hey, we won't get a special mention in the 'Thanks' section... :) With everything set up, KC and Chris went off to the press event, while Jacob and I folded and played a 2-player Havoc. Pretty different 2-player, as hand management beomes far more important. Jacob allowed hiself to run out of cards, so I spent the next few turns calling Havoc and taking maximum points with only 2 cards. During this time we also had someone walk up and ask to buy a copy. Our first sale, without even having to demo it!

After KC & Chris came back it was time to go shopping at the flea market. I picked up La Citta, Big City, Quo Vadis, Die Weinhaendler, Carolus Magnus, Razzia, and the Mississippi Queen expansion, Black Rose, and Starfarers of Catan. That last one was a bit stupid, as there is a fair amount of (German) text on the cards. Oh well, I know enough to ge through, but I'm sure I can find paste ups on the Geek.

In the afternoon I spent most of the time walking around the halls with Ben Corliss, looking at all the games as booths were getting more and more ready for the opening tomorrow. Man, so many interesting games, and so little cash left in my wallet! I had to go back to the ATM, at which I found it was distressingly easy to get money from my Credit Union. This does not bode well...... :)

I also found that I can get stuff shipped back with the Funagain guys. This really does not bode well..... :)

Anyway, I demoed Havoc to a couple of locals from the Press, and they both bought copies, and then to a couple of English dudes who bought another. So that was 4 copies I sold today, over 50% of the total take. Yep, the fair isn't open, and most people were working feverishly, but we still managed to sell some copies of the game. Decent!

I also had the very great pleasure of bumping into Stuart Dagger. I gamed at his house 25+ years ago when I was at Aberdeen University, and he was one of the people I was hoping to bump into. I recognized him immediately, and he was gracious enough to say that he did recall me, although I'm sure he didn't.

Later in the afternoon I went off on a 'comfort' break and came back to see KC talking to Friedeman Friese. (gasp!) I don't know if it was just me, or if I picked it up wrong, (heck, I've never met the dude) but I definitely got the feeling from his body language, whatever, that he was talking to a fellow game designer, not just some other game mensch. KC was very tickled when I shared that with him.

Later that evening we went along to the Istra, and had dinner with the Warfrog crowd and a few others, including Derk Solko from BGG. After taht we went down to the bowling alley downstairs, and played Brits vs. Yanks. I ended up on the Brits side, mainly because they asked me! I was also very tickled to find I was bowling next to Martin Wallace. We are not worthy, we are not worthy...... :)

There's a few photos below of  the various areas setting up, etc. Pretty boring I'm afraid. Just like my wife, I'm very good at taking my camera to events, but not so good at remembering to take it out of my pocket.... (And would you believe that I didn't even take a picture of the Sunriver stand? :o)
